The Madhouse on Madison...
Things are getting hectic over on the West side of town with both the Bulls and Hawks regular seasons dwindling down to their dramatic ends.
On one hand the Hawks are in a constant battle just to make the playoffs. They only managed 4 points on a 4 game East coast road trip (1-1-2). They sit 4th place after tonight's huge win against the Sharks, even after being down 2-1 after the 1st period. Hawks lit the lamp 5 times in the middle frame as Sharpie continued to shine with 4 helpers and Kaner scored his 100th career goal. The Hawks have their own MVP candidate in Toewser. He got his 71st point (another career high) tonight, and has 12 points in his last 13 games. Regardless of all this success, they are still struggling to pull away from the rest of the Western Conference. I mean its a fucking buzzsaw for the last 5 spots. They are only 4 points out of the playoffs with huge games coming up @Dallas and @Phoenix. Only 5 out of the final 12 games are on home ice. Not to mention they have to play the Wings 3 more times (2 @JoeLouis, and 2 are the last two games of the season). Could we still possibly win our division? It would take a miracle, but who knows, this mo-fo is gonna go down to the wire. Captain Serious needs to have the same mindset as the vicious panda pictured above, put the team on his back, and get us back to the post-season.
On the other hand, the Bulls playoff picture is completely different. They already have the division in hand (even after SI predicted the Bucks to win the division -- fucking idiots) and are tied with the Celtics for 1st place after they lost to the new look Nets. A win tomorrow against the Wiz could vault the team to the top of the pile. Honestly though, I think having the East's best record is slightly overrated. Although it would be great for Thibs and DRose (as if either need to convince anyone more that they deserve COY and MVP), does it really matter if we play the 76ers or the Danny Granger's in the 1st round? All I know is I want nothing of the Knicks. I realize if we wouldn't have home court over the Celtics should they meet in the Conference finals, but this Bulls team has proven they can win big games on the road. The Bulls have the 3rd easiest schedule down the stretch and play only 6 more games against teams above .500. So 1st place isn't out of the question, lets just make sure they pull away from the Heatles. Preview of the game coming tomorrow, but until then I'll leave you with this gem. Feel free to have conversations with co-workers only using this soundboard.
